Yiannoukas Medical Laboratories was founded in 1975 by Dr. Nikos S. Yiannoukas. Its headquarters are in ​​Strovolos, Nicosia, Cyprus. 

In 2000, his son, Kyriakos N. Yiannoukas joined the company, bringing, for the first time, the innovative idea of ​​providing services through the operation of sampling centers with the objective of bringing the medical services closer to the patient 

  • by diminishing travel inconvenience 
  • by diminishing the required time for the implementation of patient’s laboratory tests
  • by rendering the laboratory services easily accessible to everyone without geographical and economic exclusions and discriminations 
  • by transferring the samples to the laboratory in a safe and standardized way with the company’s own responsibility

As a result, over the years, Yiannoukas Medical Laboratories has come to be rightly considered one of the largest and most recognizable medical Laboratories in Cyprus.

The year 2017 was a milestone year for the Laboratory as, initially, through a public tender and in collaboration with BIOIATRIKI HEALTHCARE GROUP, succeeds in undertaking the universal creation, organization, staffing and operation of the Clinical Laboratory of GERMAN ONCOLOGY CENTER https://www.goc.com.cy/tmimata/kliniko-ergastirio/, while, at the same time, BIOIATRIKI HEALTHCARE GROUP becomes the majority shareholder of the Laboratory and its positive evolutionary course begins towards the current YIANNOUKAS MEDICAL LABORATORIES | BIOIATRIKI HEALTHCARE GROUP.

Yiannoukas Medical Laboratories has two modern Laboratories in Nicosia and Limassol, which incorporate robotics and other automation as well as multiple medical devices for immunology, hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, and molecular biology, with Siemens as the main supplier. Indicatively, some examples are Dimension EXL with LM Integrated Chemistry, Centaur XPT, Advia 2120i, Immulite 2000, BD Bactec, Clintek Novus, Quantum Studio and more… In addition, the laboratories are equipped with several other devices to support diagnosis such as microscopes, centrifuges and many more.

Within 2021, Group’s Central Laboratory in Polydynamo Center in Nicosia will be operational, in which all medical test procedures will be automated, with minimal human intervention, which guarantees even greater reliability, speed in obtaining results, complete identification of patient and sample, and traceability· all while, the required sample size is reduced.
In another innovation, the laboratory is designed in a way that the visitors will have full visual access to the procedures, gaining, for the first time, an overall picture of the sample analysis process, but also, of the impressive capabilities of modern medical technology.

Today ‘s YIANNOUKAS MEDICAL LABORATORIES | BIOIATRIKI HEALTHCARE GROUP maintained the idea of ​​the sampling centers, however, BIOIATRIKI HEALTHCARE GROUP radically reformed the way of providing its services by establishing standards in quality, numerical and innovative services as:

  • It becomes first Laboratory with universal presence in Cyprus· Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos
  • Introduces the use of mobile service units for people with disabilities
  • Operates new central medical laboratories in Nicosia and Limassol with multiple modern new medical devices characterized by robotic automation that reduce human error
  • It carried out a radical re-organization of its personnel, introducing new specific roles and providing employment to a plethora of doctors, medical specialists, and nursing staff.
  • It upgraded its sampling centers numerically, qualitatively, and operationally. There are now 16 operating sampling centers throughout Cyprus, the “image” and operation of which, are setting the Service Standards and becoming a reference point for other Medical Laboratories.
  • It is one of the few ISO 15189 accredited clinical laboratories that constantly maintains and increases the number of accredited medical tests available and conducted in Cyprus.
  • Being a member of BIOIATRIKI HEALTHCARE GROUP, provides more than 3500 different kinds of medical tests, many of which are specialized and implemented in collaboration with universities and research centers abroad.
  • It operates in collaboration with the other Cypriot member of BIOIATRIKI HEALTHCARE GROUP, ALPHA EVRESIS Diagnostic Center, and the first POLYDYNAMO CENTER of the Group, in which the patients can receive both clinical laboratory and radiodiagnostic services.

Today, an increasing number of clinical laboratories are reforming their services trying to resemble YIANNOUKAS MEDICAL LABORATORIES | BIOIATRIKI HEALTHCARE GROUP and establish branches in areas where we operate.

ALPHA EVRESIS DIAGNOSTIC CENTER

The Diagnostic Center ALPHA EVRESIS is Bioiatriki Healthcare Group’s medical imaging part in Cyprus. It was established in 2008 by doctors of various specialties with the aim and vision of providing high quality services in the field of (Primary Health Care) PHC, utilizing modern technologies, introducing new specialized diagnostic methods and using special therapeutic approaches through interventional radiology. 

In 2018, the establishment was acquired by BIOIATRIKI HEALTHCARE GROUP, the largest and most authoritative PHC provider in Greece and one of the largest in Europe, which put in motion a program of complete modernization and universal upgrade of the services the Diagnostic Center provides. As a result, today, there are two diagnostic units, one in Athalassas Avenue, and the second in Limassol Avenue, which provide medical imaging services by utilizing MRI, CT, Mammograms, a hybrid Cone-bean computed tomography systems (CBCT), DEXAN, X-RAYS, Transient Elastography (FIBROSCAN), and an Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS). We aim to continue developing to become the most modern, and innovative center with a universal presence in Cyprus.

We are equipped exclusively with new, innovative, modern low-radiation medical devices, and we stand out for the human and, at the same time, scientific approach towards our patients. We provide our diagnostic services with precision and professionalism in a modern and appropriately designed environment, through our medical and technological personnel that stands out for its knowledge and professionalism resulting in setting the standards of many diagnostics examinations in Cyprus.

Currently, we have the only MRI 3Tesla in Cyprus (only third in Europe) with AI (Artificial Intelligence) software, and we continue planning the expansion of our innovative services and our specialized personnel, targeting:

  • To the continuous upgrade, qualitative and quantitative, of the services we offer with emphasis on specialized ones that are not offered at all, or they are offered limited, in Cyprus

EQUIPMENT

2 MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI) UNITS

Our establishments have the first in Cyprus and one of the few in Europe MRI 3T AI Lumina by Siemens.

A state-of-the-art imaging system that puts patients at greater ease· a 70 cm open bore relieves the sense of confinement compared with most MRI scanners, and innovative special applications such as: 

  • Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS), Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI),  

  • Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) Tractography, Multi-Parametric Magnetic Resonance Imaging (mpMRI) for the prostate, and breast MRI.

 

The Toshiba Excelart Vantage Atlas machine is a 1.5 tesla MRI system which has a 1.4m short bore magnet and a wide opening of 655mm with adjustable lights and ventilation to ease the anxiety in any patients that may be claustrophobic. It has been equipped with a 128-element system to meet the demands that are necessary to provide high-resolution images in short period of time enabling rapid and reliable diagnosis.

1 COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY (CT)

The Somatom go Top 128-slice CT scanner meets the full range of diagnostic needs for every anatomical region, as it features the advanced Syngo VA40 software.

Thanks to the use of the Tin Filter combined with Care Dose 4D technology and the ability to apply specialized AI-driven reconstruction algorithms, the radiation dose is minimized based on the biometric characteristics of the patient, while simultaneously maximizing the quality of the examination.

Reduced Examination Time – Enhanced Comfort and Safety
The examination time is significantly shortened due to the high rotation speed of the scanner, leading to increased comfort and safety for the patient.
The ability to perform the examination using a tablet and manage the examination table with a remote control allows the technologist to stay next to the patient for a longer period (mobile workflow).

3 ULTRASOUND (US)

Innovative LOGIC S8 ultrasound platform by General Electric with probes that provide top performance and genuine imaging flexibility..

2 DUAL-ENERGY X-RAY ABSORPTIOMETRY (DEXA)

Our Bone Density Measurement department is equipped with LUNAR PRODIGY pro a state-of-the-art device by General Electric, which has advanced software for specialized examinations.

This modern and innovative technology allows a full range of Bone Mineral Density (BMD) and other body composition analyses tests with a very low radiation dose and guaranteed accuracy of results.

It also has the capacity of measuring fat mass, muscle, and bone mass in both the whole body and individual areas with detailed color representation per body point.

2 DIGITAL MAMMOGRAMS (MAMMOGRAPHY)

3D Pristina by General Electrics are our digital mammograms, with low radiation and high-resolution systems.

It has a compression-controlled system that allows the women under examination to adjust the degree of compression under the supervision of the technologist to minimize their feeling of pressure without affecting the image quality.

1 FIBROSCAN (TRANSIENT ELASTOGRAPHY) UNIT

Fibroscan is a painless procedure for quantifying liver stiffness associated with the degree of hepatic fibrosis, without the patient having to follow the invasive biopsy method.

1 CONE-BEAM COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY SYSTEM (CBCT)

NEWTOM GIANO CBCT

It offers complete solutions in panoramic, cephalometric, and temporomandibular imaging in 2D and 3D imaging.
